About Channel Cities Jazz Club
Founded more than 30 years ago, the Not-for-Profit, Channel Cities Jazz Club is established to promote and preserve the music of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s.
We do so by providing a venues for musicians who play the music and listeners and dancers who enjoy it and by supporting establishments who keep our member musicians employed.
A most important part of our efforts is sending youth to summer. We accomplish this through the generosity of the jazz music loving community that provides donations at the attendance of our events.
The club is approximately 150 members strong and meets every 3rd Sunday of the month at the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club, Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. where musicians "jam" for the first two hours. Then a featured band comes on stage to entertain for a set.
Our music includes Jazz Swing Combo, Big Band Dance, Dixie and those wonderful tunes of old sung by greats such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong and played by Bennie Goodman's band, Count Basie and more!. . .Come join us on the next 3rd Sunday!!!!
Our mission is to "keep jazz alive". We do just that by presenting monthly dances to live jazz music of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s; by providing a popular venue where musicians jam, song after song for two full hours on every 3rd Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p .m.; by providing a huge dance hall for dancers to really cut loose with steps, slides, swings and turns and by sending youth to summer jazz camp to study with the masters!
We feature some of the areas top musicians, singers and are aligned with top dance instructors in Ventura County! . . and we are not alone. We are a part of a network of several active clubs throughout California including the Simi Valley Jazz Club, The Santa Clarita Jazz Club, The Conejo Valley Jazz Club and so many more!
