In the past 6 years the Channel Cities Jazz Club has sponsored 18 students to this camp.
The club would like to thank its members and especially the well-known
jazz singer Martha “B” (who turned 90 this year) for their
contributions to the scholarship fund that makes these scholarships
possible.
The Sacramento Jazz Camp
(www.sacjazzcamp.org),
launched in 1985 by the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society, gives
young, aspiring jazz musicians the opportunity to learn and practice
with peers under the direction of an all-star faculty in a beautiful and
natural environment that inspires great music. The camp uses
the
small jazz band model as a platform for young people to problem solve,
gain an understanding of responsibility and improve their social and
teamwork skills.
The Channel
Cities Jazz Club
is a CA not-for-profit corporation
dedicated to supporting live jazz music performance. For over
20
years it has presented monthly meetings at which featured bands present
their repertoire of traditional, swing, and other jazz forms.
In
addition, the club sponsors aspiring student jazz musicians to attend
the Sacramento Jazz Camp each Summer, and accepts donations to its Jazz
